FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

Q: Do you teach snare drum, drum set, or both?

A: Both. I believe that good snare drum technique is essential for good drum set technique.

Q: Do you teach hand drums?

A: Unfortunately, no. I do love playing hand drums, but I am not familiar enough with the proper techniques to be able to teach others.

Q: How long have you been teaching drum lessons?

A: I started teaching private drum lessons in 2002.

Q: What kind of training/qualifications do you have?

A: When I started playing drums, I took lessons from my father, who studied music at the University of Northern Colorado. I have also studied with great drummers including Nashville drummers Jim Riley and Jim White, New-Orleans drummer Chris Lacinak, and local drummers Gary Lefrancois and Christian Teele. I have been playing drums for nearly twenty years, and have over ten years of professional experience performing with rock, country, jazz, and orchestral ensembles. I am also a member of the Hudson Music Teacher Integration Program, the Percussive Arts Society, the Professional Drum Teachers Guild, and the Vic Firth Education Team.

Q: What do I need to have in order to take drum lessons?

A: At a bare minimum, you'll need to have a pair of sticks, a practice pad, a metronome, and some form of hearing protection. Eventually, you will need to purchase a snare drum and/or a drum set. Also, you'll need a method book, which you may purchase from me.

Q: Where do you teach from?

A: I have a studio at Broadway Music School in Denver.

Q: When are you available to teach?

A: Please call or email for current availability.

Q: How much do you charge?

A: I have recently lowered my hourly rate! Please call or email for current pricing information.

Q: What forms of payment do you accept?

A: Cash and Personal Checks.

Q: What is your cancellation policy?

A: Since time is reserved whether the student is in attendance or not, at least twenty-four hours notice is required to cancel or reschedule a lesson. If proper notice is not given, the lesson will still be charged. If proper notice is given, a makeup lesson may be scheduled pending availability. Cancelled lessons do not count as credit towards the next month's lessons.
